MEGAN TENNANT
Hi Everyone!
I would like to start by saying thanks for the opportunity to share a little of my life with you! My name is Megan Tennant and I’m thrilled to be a part of the PHAT family. It’s been a long and interesting journey and I seriously feel it’s all been leading to this point! I’ve been involved in some form of athletics for as long as I can remember…I guess you could say it’s in my blood. I started my career in sports at the tender age of 5 playing baseball. It’s fairly acceptable at that age for a girl to play on the guy’s team… I stayed until the 8th grade! I also dabbled in cross-country, track, gymnastics, and cheerleading with much success. I think athletics was the only place I felt comfortable in my own skin… I was never a great student and not quite the stunning beauty I wanted to be. At a young age I found that sports were one of the only things that seemed to sustain and center me. After graduating high school I went on to become a boxer in College. What an amazing and hard few years, but a truly unforgettable experience. I can honestly say that I have a hefty amount of respect for boxers…tough sport! My college boxing career ended upon my graduation and I found myself rather lost, aimlessly wondering in the gym. I was approached by a man who offered to train me for my first fitness show… I took first place and qualified for nationals and the rest is history… I was hooked. My father even said he would bet money that I would buy protein before I would buy toilet paper. The crazy thing is… he was probably right. I moved to Ohio and lived in a one-room apartment with a bed that folded out of the wall. I didn’t know one person and I didn’t care all I knew is that I wanted to compete next to the best girls in the industry. I guess I’ve always been a little tenacious, and if I want something I usually get it.
I love the sport and have been blessed with continued success, but what I love more is remarkable friends and mentors who have entered my path during my fitness journey. One of which is Jen Hendershott. I’ve known Jen for about seven years now. I first met her when we lived and trained in Columbus Ohio. Jen has been more than just a competitor I look up to, she has been a great friend and mentor. Throughout my fitness career, she seemed to always be there at just the right time offering an array of good advice from how to stay focused during contest prep to how to stay positive in live in general. I have attended several PHAT Camps in Phoenix and I’ve watched the seed be planted in the mind of a woman who thought she couldn’t. I’ve then been fortunate enough to return the following year to see the amazing transformations from that same camper. All that was offered during PHAT camp and the motivation offered by Jen and her staff made a difference in this one life. I want to make a difference too. I am a social worker by trade and helping women is my passion in life. I am so happy to have the chance to combing my talents for emotional wellness with my love for physical fitness. I am honored to be a member of the Get Phat Online team! I look forward to meeting you all!
~ Love Meg!
